Don’t you just hate when you buy too much tea and you have a bunch of shopping bags everywhere? Neither do I!

Instead of tossing out your tea bags you can now repurpose them. Not only is this good for the environment, but it also makes for a crafty way to build something unique and creative. Plus bonus points if you love tea, or know someone who does, and also love artsy crafty fun!

Below are two unique ways that show you how to make a tea holder and wrap presents, all by using tea shopping bags.

#1 – How to Make a Tea Holder for your Teas

You can use the same bag you carried your teas home in to make a tea holder that keeps alls your teas in one place.

You can create a variety of different looking holders depending on the size of the bag (small, medium, or large), and from the bag’s design.

Below I used a medium sized DAVIDsTEA bag to build a holder for my teas.

What Supplies You’ll Need

Before you get started, be sure to have the following supplies on hand:

  • Shopping bag(s)
  • A pair of scissors
  • Glue, tape, or a glue gun

That’s all you’ll need! No rulers and no measuring required!

Step 1

Collect your supplies.

Step 2

Lay the bag flat with the bottom facing up, which is the base of the bag that folds. Cut along the bottom.

Step 3

You should now have two pieces.

Step 4

Now cut towards the top of the bag, either an inch or two from the handles. Don’t worry, the measuring for this does not need to be an exact science.

Step 4 - Making a Tea Holder

Step 5

You should now have three pieces.

Step 5 - Making a Tea Holder

Step 6

Open up the bottom of the bag and place the top half with the handles inside the bottom of the bag.

Step 6 - Making a Tea Holder

Step 7

Now just glue or tape both sections securely together.

Fill with your favorite teas and enjoy!

#2 – How to Use Tea Shopping Bags as Wrapping Paper

Another great way to repurpose tea shopping bags is by using them as wrapping paper!

This makes for a really unique and thoughtful gift idea for someone who LOVES tea or tea related products (like me – hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge).

What Supplies You’ll Need

  • Shopping bag(s)
  • A pair of scissors
  • Glue, tape, or a glue gun

In the below example I used a medium sized bag to wrap my DAVIDsTEA Perfect Tea Mug box.

Keep in mind that larger bags will allow you to wrap larger boxes.

Step 1

Select the appropriate sized bag for the box you are about to wrap.

There are many ways you can experiment creating different sized tea holders, all depending on the size of the bag you’re using and where the bag itself is from. The possibilities really are endless!
