The Hario glass teapot infuser is a wonderful teapot made entirely of Japanese glass. It is a lovely teapot for those who enjoy brewing loose leaf tea from a glass pot as opposed to a standard tea kettle. It is an elegant small teapot that can be used to make about two servings of tea.

As its name suggests, the Hario glass teapot infuser is a teapot made from glass. The glass is a heatproof glass that has a thermal heat resistance of over 120℃. Extra care must still be taken when handling the teapot as it is not reinforced glass or shock resistant.
The glass teapot comes with a large removable stainless steel mesh filter to infuse your tea with. This large filter allows plenty of room for tea leafs to expand while brewing, allowing the full flavor of the tea to be released. It is a perfect mesh basket to use for special, high quality teas. The basket is removable so you can brew your tea inside the basket or within the glass teapot itself if you wish. The mesh is fine enough for small leaves to not escape through.
Due to the size of the mesh basket, cleaning and removal is also very easy. Simply remove the glass lid, and either use a tea tong or your figures to pinch the basket and lift it out of the glass teapot.
Caution: If using your hands make sure to wait until the metal basket has cooled down completely before touching it, as it will be very hot!
There are two very simple ways you can use the Hario glass teapot infuser:
You can boil water in a separate kettle or pot, and then transfer the boiling water into your glass teapot. You can brew with the tea leaves either in the basket, or without the basket and the leaves directly in the teapot.
The second method is to heat the water directly inside the glass teapot itself. You can do this either by placing the pot in the microwave or oven. When I use the microwave I heat for about 5 minutes, which is based on my microwave settings. I would recommend to heat without the mesh basket, and once you remove your teapot from the microwave or oven, then place the mesh basket with tea leaves inside the pot for steeping.
You can also use the glass teapot without the mesh basket entirely if you wish. The lid will still stay onto the pot firmly, with or without the basket inside.
What’s wonderful about the Hario glass teapot infuser is that even when the pot is hot, you do not burn your hand on the handles or lid.
The Hario glass teapot infuser is about 6.5 inches x 4.7 inches x 5.7 inches and weighs about 14 ounces. It can brew up to 700 ml of tea in one sitting, which is about two cups of tea.
As the teapot is made entirely from glass, it will keep your tea warm for about one hour.
The Hario glass teapot infuser and removable mesh filter are both dishwasher safe. You can also wash the teapot by hand with warm soapy water. It is also suggested you can clean the glass by using a diluted citric acid based soap or vinegar and leaving it in the teapot for about an hour and then rinsing it out. As the teapot is glass, be sure to use a soft sponge that will not leave any scratches.
This glass teapot infuser by Hario is a perfect teapot for tea time. Not only is it cute and functional, but also very low in maintenance!
