Home Sweet Home Black Tea Review
“Brew a cup of this tea to experience the welcoming scent of home baking. Every sip makes coming home a truly sweet experience.”
Interesting Notes
- Medium level of caffeine
- No GMOs
- Gluten free
Ingredients
- Black tea
- Clove
- Cinnamon
- Star anise
- Jasmine petals
- Natural flavors
- Candy (5% sugar, rice flour, vegetable oil, corn starch, Arabic and cellulose gum, color R, confectioners glaze, carrageenan, soy, lecithin, red #40, yellow #5#6, blue#1 dye, flavors)
The Aroma
Why hello there cinnamon! I can definitely smell you.
The smell of cinnamon also reminded me of gingerbread cookies. A little bit random I know, but that’s what came to mind at first.
Leaf Details
Looking at the pieces individually I could see black tea leaves, clove, and jasmine petals. The best part however was the tiny pieces of snowflake with red and green Christmas tree candies! I’m a sucker for small details like these that makes things feel extra special and festive.
Preparation
The following are the recommended guidelines when brewing a cup of Home Sweet Home:
- Scoop 1 tsp/2.3 g of loose leaf tea
- Use 8 fl oz of water and heat to 100°C/212°F
- Steep for 3 to 5 minutes
- Milk and sugar to taste
Tea Tasting
Once brewed Home Sweet Home has a golden orange/light maple color to it. I can also still smell the light aroma of cinnamon.
When I took the first sip I could detect the taste of cloves mixed with a light taste of cinnamon. I’m glad that the taste of cinnamon in this tea isn’t strong. I find teas that have too much cinnamon tend to be too spicy and it overpowers the rest of the tea.
I found Home Sweet Home to definitely be a comforting and feel good tea. All it needs is some milk and honey, and I’m then ready to curl up in my cozy pajamas and watch some Netflix.
In my review of Home Sweet Home, I found it to be a yummy black tea. The higher level of caffeine in this tea makes it good to have earlier in the day or in the mornings. I also love the added touch of candy snowflakes and Christmas teas. It makes the tea extra special and festive!

Preparation
The below guidelines are suggested when brewing a cup of Sour Apple Martini:
- Scoop 1 tsp/2.3g of loose leaf tea
- Use 8 fl oz of water and heat to 90°C/194°F
- Steep for 3 to 5 minutes
- Milk and sugar not recommended
Tea Tasting
I have yet to try a green tea with apple and lemon flavoring so I’m really curious to see how this will taste! One of my favorite fruit flavors after watermelon is green apple. So it’s safe to say that I’m also a watermelon and green apple addict.
Once brewed the tea has a very light yellow color. It tastes slightly astringent at first but then has a light aftertaste to it. I don’t seem to be able to taste too much of the apple or lemon fruit pieces which is a bummer. I also didn’t find it too sour from the lemon either.
Every sip I took I was hoping the fruit flavors would come through but I noticed it did not. I will have to brew another cup and see if the fruit flavors are more noticeable after the tea has cooled down slightly, as some teas can taste slightly different as their temperatures change.
I’m also curious as to how this will taste as an iced tea. Over the past summer I made several iced teas that had green tea as its base and they were delicious. I have a feeling Sour Apple Martini would taste good as an iced tea.
In my review of Sour Apple Martini I still thought it was a good green tea that had a light and refreshing taste. I just wish I could taste more of the sour apple!

- Gluten free

- Cinnamon

- Star anise
- Cardamom
- Natural flavor
The Aroma
The smell has a zesty cinnamon twist! I can smell both cinnamon and citrus flavors.
Leaf Details
Looking at the pieces individually I can see black tea leaves, dried fruit, what looks like dried orange peels, cardamom, and tiny pieces of lime leaves.
Preparation
Here are the recommended guidelines when brewing a cup of Let’s Get Cozy:
- Scoop 1 tsp/2.3g of loose leaf tea
- Use 8 fl oz of water and heat to 100°C/212°F
- Steep for 3 to 5 minutes
- Milk and sugar to taste
Tea Tasting
At first I thought this would taste similar to Home Sweet Home; they are both black teas with cinnamon and cardamom in it.
However the more I picked up on the aroma of the tea the more I began to notice the differences. Let’s Get Cozy has a noticeable citrus and zesty smell to it that Home Sweet Home does not have.
Once brewed this tea also has a dark golden, maple color to it.
I noticed with this tea I could taste more cardamom and not as much cinnamon. It also tastes similar to Home Sweet Home but has a zesty aftertaste at the end.
In my review of Let’s Get Cozy I found it to be a similar tea to Home Sweet Home but with a zesty aftertaste. I also feel the ‘cozy and comfy’ vibe when I drink this tea and feel the need to change into pajamas when drinking it. Although with a medium level of caffeine in it I recommend drinking it earlier in the day or in the mornings.
You can check out Let’s Get Cozy at Amazon or For Tea’s Sake for more details.
Cold Be Gone Herbal Tea Review
“Licorice, known to be effective in reducing inflammation, irritation and fever, is a soothing companion to ginger, one of nature’s best throat and respiratory healers. Together they combat the nasty symptoms of flu and colds.”
Interesting Notes
- No caffeine
- No GMOs
- Gluten free
Ingredients
- Licorice root
- Coarse cut ginger pieces
- Goji berries
The Aroma
I can definitely smell the ginger as it’s pretty strong.
Leaf Details
I can see everything as is listed on the ingredients; licorice root, cut ginger pieces and dried goji berries.
Preparation
Below are the recommended guidelines when brewing a cup of Cold Be Gone:
- Scoop 1 tsp/2.3g of loose leaf tea
- Use 8 fl oz of water and heat to 100°C/212°F
- Steep for 4 to 6 minutes
- Milk and sugar not recommended
Tea Tasting
I’m worried how this will taste as I am not a huge fan of ginger. Ginger is such a dominant ingredient in this tea that I’m worried it might take over the entire flavor. I mean, I do love Ginger Ale, but I guess that’s different because it’s packed with so much sugar that it tastes good?
I noticed once the tea was brewed it still had a strong ginger aroma. It also has a yellow liquor that reminds me of the color of apple juice.
I was nervous to try this because all I could think about was how it would taste like ginger.
When I took the first sip it did taste like ginger, however, it didn’t taste so strong in that it punched you in the face. You definitely notice the ginger in the beginning but then you quickly get a very sweet aftertaste. This sweet aftertaste first reminded me of stevia, which is commonly found as a sweetener in many tea blends, but according to the ingredients list it does not have any in. The sweetness is fairly dominant so it must be coming from the licorice root.
In my review of Cold Be Gone I have to say I’m on the fence with this tea. I’m not a big fan of it but I don’t hate it either. I don’t like ginger to begin with but the licorice root adds a very sweet but strange taste to it. I don’t think this would be my first choice if I felt like drinking herbal tea, but I would definitely drink it if I had a cold or am feeling under the weather. This might be one of those teas that grow on me after a couple of cups.
You can check out Cold Be Gone at Amazon or For Tea’s Sake for more details.
Teal and Green Leaf Porcelain Infuser Mug
Last but not least is this lovely For Tea’s Sake Porcelain Tea Infuser Mug!
This large mug can hold about 14oz of tea. This is a lot of tea so be sure it’s a cup of something you really enjoy!
When holding the cup I was able to see how nice the design is. It has pretty green and teal leaves painted on the mug with a matching teal lid.
My favorite part is the removable stainless steel tea infuser. It has two really important criteria that make tea infusers actually useful:
- It has lots of room for leaf expansion
- It has fine mesh so finer leaves cannot escape
The one gripe I have is that the infuser cannot sit on top of the lid. When I try to do so the infuser falls to its side. It would be handy if the infuser had a flatter bottom so it could stand up, enabling the lid to act as a saucer.
The tea infuser itself is easily removable and not attached to the mug. This means you can use the pretty mug for other drinks besides tea if you wish.
Product Details
- Can hold 14oz of tea
- Made from porcelain
- Comes with a removable stainless steel tea infuser
- Lovely teal and green leaf design
- FDA approved
- Food safe
- Dishwasher safe
- Microwave safe
- Oven safe
You can check out Teal and Green Leaf Porcelain Infuser Mug at Amazon for more details.
Final Thoughts
Overall I enjoyed all of the teas I sampled from For Tea’s Sake. My favorite tea is Home Sweet Home. I thought it was a delicious and festive black tea and I loved the candy pieces that were in it.
Sour Apple Martini sounded promising but I wish it had more of the sour apple flavor. As a green tea it was still good and I would drink it again. Let’s Get Cozy tasted similar to Home Sweet Home but with a zesty twist at the end and no candy pieces (can you tell I really like those candy pieces lol?). When I found out Cold Be Gone was pretty much a ginger tea I thought for sure I was not going to like it, but it surprised me with its sweet aftertaste.
